Firm Profile

Elettromeccanica Piossasco came into being from the transformation of Elettromeccanica Luparia, founded in Turin by Mr. Giacinto Luparia and his son Alessandro, an engineer, in the beginning of the 50s.
Production originally included every type of electrical machine, including power generators.

In 1962, with the construction of new premises in Piossasco (TO ) the company became Elettromeccanica Piossasco, specialised exclusively in the construction of oil distribution transformers and low voltage dry transformers and autotransformers.

In recent years, following market evolution, the production range has been expanded to resin transformers.

Production headquarters are owned by Eletromeccanica Piossasco and is made up of two warehouses of approximately 2,000 sq.m., with offices, and another 5,000 sq.m. semi-covered and open-air.

E.P. is currently run by the sons of Alessandro Luparia and has about 20 dependents, both office employees and workmen, making use when the need arises of specialists and external consultants for the rationalisation of work and production cycles.

The three sons of Alessandro Luparia are responsible within the company organisation for the Technical and Marketing Supervision (Giacinto Luparia), Quality Control (Lorenzo Luparia), Production Supervision (Andrea Luparia).

E.P.’s structure and flexibility grant it the dynamics to follow market evolution and demand, guaranteeing prompt delivery even for sizeable orders and customising at the customer’s request.

E.P. production, aimed at both the Italian and foreign markets (Community and non Community) is guaranteed by a vast series of machines and equipment, amongst them: 2 CNC cutting lines for cutting magnetic sheet iron, 5 winding machines for primary winding and 4 winding machines for secondary winding, a completely independent structural workshop equipped with shears, a bender, a CNC punching machine with rotating turret, 3 fixed welding stations and other machinery, 3 ovens for vacuum heat treatment of the transformers, 2 sandblasting machines and a paint division.

E.P. also has a test room for various tests during production and of the finished product.

E.P. has been operating abroad steadily since the 70s (above all with Saudi Arabia, the Arab Emirates, Greece, the Far East) and achieved peak exports in the beginning of the 80s with 50% of their production. Their transformers have been accredited with various foreign Electricity Boards and large companies that handle assembly and installation of electricity lines and the production of transformer rooms.

A widespread network of agents covers all the national territory and the current main areas of foreign trade (EEC countries, North Africa, the Middle East).

With an eye to ongoing development of all those activities necessary to guarantee and qualify their product, in the month of March 2002, E.P. achieved certification of their own “Quality System” in conformity with the requirements of regulation UNI EN ISO 9001 : 2000 from DET NORSKE VERITAS (DNV) with Certificate No. CERT-10275-2002-AQ-TRI-SINCERT.

The achievement of certification of their own quality system is recognition of the efforts that E.P., attentive to an ever more competitive and competent market, have made for global improvement of their organisational and operational structure, in the ongoing quest for more efficient quality management to serve their customers.
